In the pre-dawn hours of Saturday, December 25, 2021, eyes around the world were on the sky. NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope launched at 7:20 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on an Ariane 5 rocket from Europe’s Space Centre in French Guiana, South America.   Webb is the world’s largest and most complex space science observatory. It will study infrared light from celestial objects with much greater clarity than ever before.
