"Eclipse Season" is about to start here in Comfort, TX, part of the "Square of Awesome" where we can observe BOTH of the upcoming eclipses! The first, the Annular Eclipse (also known as the "Ring of Fire" eclipse will occur in less than one month--on Saturday, October 14. The entire event will last from 10:23 am until 1:33 pm, with the Maximum Annularity (i.e., the "peak") lasting just 4 minutes and 21 seconds at 11:54 am. Comfort Public Library will have TWO exciting events the weekend of the Eclipse. To get things started, on Friday, October 13 at 4:30 pm, NASA Astrophysicist, James Rhoads, will come talk about the Eclipse and the next NASA space telescope being built--the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope--in the Library's Tech Room. Then on the day of the Eclipse, CPL will host Astrophysicist Anne Holland, Principal Investigator for the Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries phase of the NASA@MyLibrary Grant, will narrate the progression of the Eclipse on the Library's Patio, among the numerous sun-filtered telescopes, "sunoculars", and other equipment that we received as part of the grant. Come celebrate this exciting event with us here at YOUR Comfort Public Library!!!
